LeaskAS helps Swedish company launch in UK

Darryl Gregory at Stop Digging shares an insight into the successes we’ve achieved together.

Stop Digging installers work with local householders, builders, sign companies and major construction companies to offer concrete-free, long lasting, eco-friendly foundations for all kind of projects.

Swedish roots

The parent company Sluta Grav (Swedish for Stop Digging) started in 2010. With the help of enthusiastic installers and social media, the concept grew in popularity very quickly – Sluta Grav has tripled in size every year and sell over 100,000 ground screws through its network of 54 retailers and installers across the country (serving a population of under 10 million).

Following the success in Sweden, we expanded the operation to cover the rest of the Nordic countries and the UK. Customer requirements in the UK are similar to those in Sweden, allowing the system to bring the same benefits to our UK installers – although with a larger potential market and longer construction season compared to the less temperate Swedish climate.

Our customers are small to medium sized building and construction companies, landscapers, fencing or decking installers and small, regional builders’ merchants. They use the system to improve their day-to-day efficiency when installing decking or fencing etc. They can also generate additional revenue by working with their trade network on sign installation, temporary hoardings, timber out-buildings and so on.

Expertise you can rely on

As a Swedish company making its first foray into the UK, we needed someone with the expertise to guide through the initial business start-up process in the UK and to act on our behalf with Companies House and HMRC tax reporting and on-going cash management, payroll, bookkeeping etc. Leask AS provided this role and has supported us with enthusiasm every step of the way. We can depend on Julia to treat the business as if it were her own.

Over and above the necessary daily activities, Julia has recognised the benefits of networking and sharing the skills and services of her client base. She is honest, fair and approachable. It’s important to work with someone who is skilled, experienced and knowledgeable, but it is just as important to deal with people you, for the want of a better expression, get along with.

Future growth

The company is still very young, so the path is not so clear…but whichever way it goes, we will have fun along the way. If we mirror the format of Sluta Grav, we will appoint installers with a designated territory and work with them to maximise the additional revenue streams the system brings. We will also work with national companies to get approval and feed the work back through the network of our local installers.
